The turf replacement rebate is for supplanting previously irrigated cool-season turfgrass that is COMPLETELY removed within the project area and replaced with lower water requirement landscaping. This includes:
Turf replacement rebates are $1/sqft based on the area of the converted area, with a minimum of 100 sqft and a maximum of 2,500 sqft.

The irrigation efficiency rebate is a 75% Beyond Lawn, 25% property owner cost-share applicable to upgrades made to minimize wasteful outdoor water use. Eligible efficiency upgrades include:

No, we require that anyone who wants to qualify for the rebate must have a landscape and irrigation evaluation completed before making landscape or irrigation upgrades.
Rebates are up to $2,500 for turf replacement and up to $5,000 for irrigation efficiency upgrades, with a maximum combined rebate of $7,500 for single-family and duplex homeowners. Multifamily units/ HOAs can receive up to $10,000 through the HOA grant program.
The property owner's time and labor are not eligible for rebates, but professional contracted help is eligible for rebates, so long as the work performed fits within the approved rebate parameters. Parts are eligible for rebates regardless of who completes the work.
Rebate applications are reviewed on a rolling basis (first-come, first-served) and go through final approval at the end of every month. Most native grasses qualify for a rebate. Commonly used introduced grasses, like smooth brome, do not. If you are not sure if your grass seed qualifies, please contact beyondlawn@eccdistrict.org. Common turf alternatives that we do NOT support are Clover, Fescue, or Buffalo Grass.

No, we cannot provide an irrigation rebate for participants who do not currently have a permanent in-ground irrigation system. However, participants without an irrigation system DO qualify for the turf replacement rebate.
