2026 Beyond Lawn Rebates

Turf Replacement Rebate

Irrigation Efficiency Rebate

Irrigation Efficiency Rebate

The turf replacement rebate is for supplanting previously irrigated cool-season turfgrass that is COMPLETELY removed within the project area and replaced with lower water requirement landscaping. This includes:

  • Meadowscaping with Colorado native grasses and wildflowers
  • Waterwise or lower water need trees, shrubs, and perennials
  • Permeable hardscape not exceeding 50% of total area

Turf replacement rebates are $1/sqft based on the area of the converted area, with a minimum of 100 sqft and a maximum of 2,500 sqft.

  • The landscape converted must maintain at least 50% vegetated cover at full maturity.
  • Common turf alternatives that are NOT ELIGIBLE are clover, fine/tall fescues, and buffalo grass.
  • Concrete, asphalt, and grouted flagstone/pavers are non-permeable and do not qualify for a rebate.
  • Rebates will not be provided for artificial turf or hardscape installation associated with pools, fountains, hot tubs, or other water features.
  • Rubber mulch and shredded tires are discouraged and do not qualify for a rebate due to wildfire risk

A full list of rebate parameters is given to all Beyond Lawn evaluation participants before their evaluation.

  • and more!

The irrigation efficiency rebate does NOT cover:

  • New builds
  • Irrigation installed in a previously unirrigated area
  • Meetings
  • Handwatered areas without formal irrigation
  • Costs associated with system design or consultation
  • Adjacent labor that does not improve irrigation efficiency

HOA Mini-Grant Program

The Beyond Lawn HOA Grant Program is an exciting opportunity for homeowner associations to receive valuable technical and financial assistance for landscape conversion and irrigation efficiency projects. This initiative aims to support HOAs in transforming traditional lawns into sustainable landscapes that conserve water and enhance landscape health. Whether it's upgrading irrigation systems or introducing native plants, the program is designed to make the transition smoother and more affordable.

  • $10,000 Maximum Award

To be eligible for an HOA grant, associations must:

  • Contact Beyond Lawn to explore program alignment, including homeowner interest and board support
  • Once alignment is demonstrated, schedule a Beyond Lawn Evaluation ($350 for HOAs)
  • Complete the evaluation and receive a report with upgrade recommendations
  • Plan upgrades; confirm project eligibility against HOA grant parameters (TBD) for anticipated grant award
  • Schedule and complete work
  • Apply for and receive a grant; the final amount depends on the scope of the project

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at beyondlawn@eccdistrict.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

No, we require that anyone who wants to qualify for the rebate must have a landscape and irrigation evaluation completed before making landscape or irrigation upgrades.

Rebates are up to $2,500 for turf replacement and up to $5,000 for irrigation efficiency upgrades, with a maximum combined rebate of $7,500 for single-family and duplex homeowners. Multifamily units/ HOAs can receive up to $10,000 through the HOA grant program.

The property owner's time and labor are not eligible for rebates, but professional contracted help is eligible for rebates, so long as the work performed fits within the approved rebate parameters. Parts are eligible for rebates regardless of who completes the work.

Rebate applications are reviewed on a rolling basis (first-come, first-served) and go through final approval at the end of every month. Checks are sent early the following month for approved applications. If you have questions about the status of your rebate, contact us at beyondlawn@eccdistrict.org.

Most native grasses qualify for a rebate. Commonly used introduced grasses, like smooth brome, do not. If you are not sure if your grass seed qualifies, please contact beyondlawn@eccdistrict.org. Common turf alternatives that we do NOT support are Clover, Fescue, or Buffalo Grass.

No, we will not provide any rebate for astroturf and highly recommend that all homeowners steer clear of this due to the environmental impact it has. Read here for more information: Why are artificial lawns bad for the environment?

No, we cannot provide an irrigation rebate for participants who do not currently have a permanent in-ground irrigation system. However, participants without an irrigation system DO qualify for the turf replacement rebate.
